The Definition
The genre of acting that we are pursuing at Ardor. The Definition of acting is "living truthfully in given circumstances".
Public Solitude
The Skill
Why do we train as actors? To build our sense of 'Public Solitude'. Think of it as a muscle. To bring objectivity to living truthfully we measure 'Public Solitude' by this question: "Is the work I'm doing more important than how I'm being perceived?"
The Work
Set & Unset
The work is described as the relationship to two things: the Set & the Unset. Given Circumstances, Direction, Text Analysis live in the Set, while living truthfully, behavior, and tactics live in the Unset. Your relationship to the given circumstances is based on how well you anaylzed the text with the five questions. These questions are the bedrock of your analysis and critical if you are to fully empathize with your character. See questions below.
